VIDEO: James Horner Tribute: Heritage of the Wolf

Drawing my-style but trying to keep the Balto look. Time: 2 hours 33 minutes and made in paint Tool Sai and PSE with Trust Tablet.

A tribute and farewell to my all-time favorite composer James Horner. This is one of his signature melodies although he made a lot of variations in it I think it was his favorite. The best one in my opinion is "Heritage of the Wolf" even if all his music is emotional and can make you cry in a millisecond or feel the best rush of joy you ever had, this is for me: the best. His passing has been a huge loss for this world and a personal one since I love and always have loved his music even before I knew what a composer was.
I often got "who that?" and all I needed to say was: he made the music for "Titanic" and they would go: Ooooh him! I know him!.
This is my favorite scene in my favorite movie with my favorite piece of music.

My "Inner wolf theory"

10/8-15: www.animationsource.org/balto/… Simon Wells aka director of Balto. White Wolf = mystery ^^.

The White Wolf. I remember my fist conclusion about the white wolf seeing the movie for the first time. Outside Nome a pack of wolves walk by and they stop to look at him. One of them howls to Balto like to ask if he´s gonna howl back. When he turns away the wolves looks at him like to say "No? Okay..." lift one paw and then walks away.
When Balto falls down the mountain/cliff and is approached by the White Wolf it looks at him and then howls to him asking him to join. Balto turns away and the wolf is like "No? Okay..." and lifts one paw turning away and then walking away from him.....hmmmmm.
My first ever conclusion of this was that it is a combined memory of that of the wolves on the hill and his inner wolf awakening so he´ll survive, so this is how he sees it. When he howl back the wolf returns and howls with him as he embraces his strength being part wolf. Besides the dogs on the top of the mountain only hears one wolf howl, even if Nikki says "now we got wolves". Besides his mom would just leave afterwards if they by chance in this huge wilderness of Alaska meet for the first time since Balto was a puppy?

Balto  in WQ says he remembers his mom "she was white as snow" and WQ says Aniu the white wolf is his mom (also Steele points out Baltos mom was the wolf in the first movie), but I still think not they are the same wolf. I stick to the White Wolf in Balto 1 is Baltos inner wolf coming to life inside him. The white wolf does the exact movements of the wolves on the hill and that combined with the memory of his mom and by the help of Boris words he embraces the heritage he refuses to embrace at first. He is in the wild, been through h-ll and lost all hope, so his survival instincts kick in  and this embodies as this wolf in his mind before his eyes.

The white wolf moves exactly as the wolves on the hill did (not just one of them but it use the movement of at least two of the wolves) until Balto howls. The last wolf looks at him like "No...you´re not coming with us? Okay...." and walks away. The White wolf does this too and when Balto howls the wolf appears again lifting his/its paw in the gesture as "Ohhhh you´re gonna follow??!!" and walk back toward Balto and howls with him. This is what might have happened had Balto howled back to the wolf calling him in Nome. Back then I think he knew he would not survive in the wild because of his kindness and low self-esteem but now as he found his heritage and embraces it as something useful and positive he howls back to the white wolf. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBn_oZ…

I know Wolf Quest it is his mother, but answer me this: Balto is part Siberian Husky and part Gray Wolf right?
So how can The White Wolf  be related to him when it is clearly an Arctic Wolf/Tundra wolf??? (technically a Grey Wolf but I mean Balto seems to be "ordinary" Grey Wolf while TWW looks like an Arctic Wolf). Aniu in WQ (could also be the animation/character design but it is unfair to compare these moves since I guess WQ did not have the same budget) looks so much more like a Gray Wolf.

The White Wolf in Balto is a spirit, and for all I know it is the reminder of his wolf heritage.
There is a legend of a wolf known as Old White who guide people when they get lost both irl and in spirit. Balto got lost in both and the wolf helped him remember what his strength was.

Also I LOVE the fact that the White Wolf is shrouded in mystery and that is so widely discussed, it makes it even more amazing.
